Christmas 2017 Sneak Peek & Christmas’ Past

Hi, Friends!  I’ve been so busy decking the halls, that I haven’t checked in here!  How was Thanksgiving?  Did you shop til you dropped on Black Friday?  Did you score any amazing deals on Cyber Monday?  Our Thanksgiving was very laid back and just the way I like it!  Black Friday I went to my favorite little decor shop and did a bit of damage, but then I went home.  I used to love shopping on Black Friday, but not so much anymore.  I think it’s because you can get so many great deals online and you don’t have to leave home!  Anyway, I’m feeling so left out in sharing holiday decor.  So many of my blogging friends have already shared their home tours and I’m so anxious to share mine too.  If you haven’t already figured it out, I’m not one who decorates in a day, or two, or even a week – ha, ha!!!  It’s a process for me.  I start with a theme (color, style, etc.), and then start to pull elements together.  Of course, I end up doing a lot of DIY projects, and that takes longer.  Last night I was working on a floral arrangement and I said to hubs – “it would be so much quicker to just go buy an arrangement for the dining room”.   Of course, his comment was – “but this is cheaper”.   Yes, but that’s not the whole reason I do what I do – I just love the process too much!   Today, I just want to share a sneak peek at what I’m working on.  This area will probably look a little different when you end up seeing it in my Christmas Home Tour, next Thursday.  But, this is my mantel as it looks today.

I’ll be tweaking things through the weekend.  I’d love to add some mini lights to the greens, and I’ll add some fresh greens to the faux ones already on the mantel.   You’ll have to come back next week to see if there are any other changes!  But, this is a good shot to see the direction of my decor this year.  Upstairs, is much more feminine and you will see some pink!  The  Christmas Home Tour that I participate in begins next Monday – mark it on your calendar!  The tour is hosted by Marty of A Stroll Thru Life and it’s an eclectic group of bloggers with varying styles – so you won’t get bored!  I’ll be sure to share the links with you on Monday.

Thanks for hanging in there with me while I finish decorating!  I do have a few things to share in the upcoming days – a printable and an easy DIY project for Advent.  Stay tuned!  Hope you are enjoying the beginning of the holiday season!  Now, I’ve got to get back to decking those halls – fa, la, la, la la – la, la, la, la!

Time flies. It doesn’t seem that long ago you purchased the drapes but now we can see it’s been awhile. Not just a year as I thought. I still love how popular they are. You’ve created so many looks with them being your backdrop. You’ve used pink, spring green, grays, a bright green, reds and now we will just have to wait but do we see a forest green in a deep dark hue?! I’ve done very little and Thanksgiving was so early. I feel glad I did my above the mantel. And ordered cards. Wink 😉 May you continue to enjoy the process. I had a long list of projects I wanted to do but where did my days go?!! We know we shall enjoy your tour. Enjoy creating in your beautiful craft room.

Hi Doreen, I'm like you, it takes me awhile to decorate, because I try to do something a little different each year. It's a process for me. Your mantel is looking wonderful, so excited for Marty's Home Tour, it's always great.

I am not trying to be rude in the least bit. I love your blog. But, I think you are skipping 2017. You called this the 2018 Christmas tour. Yikes! Not yet. Don't rush me that fast. I am no where near ready for the 2017 one, let alone 2018.
