2018 Ikea Christmas Collection

Hi, friends!  If you have followed me for a while, you know that I love to shop at Ikea to find affordable decor items for my home.  Each year, Ikea launches their Vinter collection in early October.  I saw these pieces added to Ikea website, but I love to see things in person (because sometimes things look great online, but not so much in person)!  So, the hubs and I made a quick run to Ikea last evening to check out the 2018 Ikea Christmas collection in person and today I want to share some of my favorite finds with you!  All are affordable, some I purchased, and some I may be heading back to the store to purchase!  I know it’s early to be sharing Christmas items, but these things tend to sell out quick, and I don’t want you to miss out!  I’ll share the link to the Ikea website if you want to buy online to save a trip or if you don’t live within driving distance of an Ikea store.

Remember, that Ikea is a Swedish design store, so their items do have a Scandinavian influence.  I love that style, especially for the holiday season.  If you do shop in the store, I’ve found that the Christmas items are usually set up just before the checkout in the warehouse.  Of course, there are items scattered throughout the store as well, staged beautifully in each department.  These staged areas do give you some decorating ideas that you may not think of on your own.  The textiles and dinnerware are more likely found in their department in the Marketplace and not with the Christmas decor.  We got to Ikea in time for a quick Swedish meatball dinner and hit the Marketplace at around 5:30 p.m.  The store was almost empty and it was quite nice to shop without the masses of people on the weekend.

This year Ikea is incorporating a lot of jewel tones with the traditional Scandinavian red and white holiday colors.  I found that I, unexpectedly, loved the look!  Hubs even commented, “don’t you normally just go for the red and white looks”!  But, I think decor in general is trending away from the stark whites and grays to more bold colors.  I don’t see me painting my interiors in dark shades any time soon, but adding in some darker and bolder hues in accessories is a way to get the look!  That’s my overview and here are my favorite finds from the 2018 Ikea Christmas collection.

2018 Ikea Christmas Textiles

If I had to choose a favorite, I’d have to say that I was really impressed with the new Emmafrida throw and pillow cover!  These “salt and pepper” knits are thick and lush and the quality is excellent!  Plus, they are neutral and can be used year afe

Ikea Christmas Faux Trees & Plants

There are a LOT of faux trees and plants to choose from!  These are just my favorites!  If you are into blues and berry colors, there are some lovely options to pick from!  And, there are a lot of faux Christmas tree options this year.  I just liked the sparse look of the 55″ one below!

Ikea Christmas Decorations

Ikea has had the lighted paper stars in a variety of sizes and patterns for the past few years.  I have already have one that is white with gray stripes that I’ve used in my kitchen window before.  Last year I loved several of the patterns and now regret not getting a few more.  The one I shared below is the only pattern I really like this year.  You do need to purchase the light cord and bulb separately.

Ikea Christmas Dinnerware

My favorite of all of these options is the green floral side plate.  It’s really pretty and in the store they had it layered with the burgundy dinner plate and the blue bowl on top.  I would never have put these together, but it was really striking!  So, I thought I’d share them all with you!

Ikea Christmas Gingerbread

I’m not going to link these next items because I couldn’t find them online, but they were in store!  My favorites are the gingerbread ornaments!  I got several packs of these for one of my Christmas trees!  Yes, it’s fun to make your own gingerbread (and I’ve been there, done that)!  But, sometimes it’s nice to have pretty gingerbread ornaments that are ready to hang on the tree!!!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this round up of Ikea Christmas favorites!  I’ve also created a printable list of these items to take with you on your next Ikea shopping trip!  It’s easy to get overwhelmed at Ikea and I like to have a list of things I want to check out when I go, because inevitably, I forget something that I wanted to see!  I hope this resource helps you too!

Thanks for doing this! I have a question about the paper stars. I bought one years ago and I never had any luck in putting it together. It tore and I taped it but eventually the tape wouldn't hold. Is there a trick to getting it to work correctly? Maybe I had a defective one! I am going to buy another and try again!
