It’s been a little over a month now since we began our bedroom update! I never thought it would take this long, but most of the room has been DIY and DIY takes time! Here’s one of the last little projects I did for the room – DIY vintage doily art.
I needed two pieces of artwork for above the nightstands on either side of the bed. Something simple, but unique. I had several ideas, but this is the one that I liked the most. And, it’s super easy and inexpensive too!
I purchased two frames at AC Moore that already had a linen look mat with a 5 x 7″ opening. They were 50% off. I used a piece of 8 x 10″ chipboard and covered it with a blue fabric that is a shade darker than my wall color (here’s a secret – it’s really a pillowcase that I cut up!). Then I went to my local vintage shop where you can buy a doily for .50! I picked up several, brought them home, and chose the two I liked best. I did bleach them so they were bright white and ironed them when they were still damp. Place the doily over the fabric covered chipboard and secure on the back and place inside your frame. That’s it!
I’ll be back on Wednesday to show you the finished bedroom! I hope your week is off to a great start!
