Christmas Living Room and Kitchen

Welcome to the Hymns and Verses Christmas Home Tour Part 2.  First up is the living room.

Christmas-Living-Room-Hymns-and-Verses

I really wanted to make my home fun and cheery this year.  I updated the photos of the kids on the photo ledge and added the “better not pout” and 12/25 prints that I will be sharing with you as printables soon.  The vintage Lightening Glider sled was one that my dad had kept from the farm.   It’s in pretty good shape and I just cleaned it up a bit and hung it on the wall.

That amazing reindeer print is an instant download purchase from  honeytreeprints on Etsy.    I had it printed at Staples and then cropped it a bit to fit my space.

I made the star on the mantel a few years ago, but never made a tutorial for it.  So, I’ll be sharing that with you soon.  It’s really easy and inexpensive!

I wish I could say that I made the birch branch wall hanging, but I did buy it.  When I saw it at a local shop, my first thought was “I can totally DIY that!”   But, when I looked at the price tag and it said $13.95, I had to just buy it!  It wouldn’t be worth the time and effort to make one myself at that amazing price!  The reindeer ornament at the top is from Pottery Barn.  The second row are pom poms.  Row three are wooden tree ornaments from Michaels.  And, the last row of grain sack stockings are from Ann of Sutton Place Designs.

And, here’s another little vintage sled.  This small one I picked up locally at an antique shop.  I loved the small size and versatility that would bring.

Red-and-White-Christmas-Tree-Hymns-and-Verses

This year my tree is pretty simple with white and silver glass balls, white houses, white wool polar bears, red and white yarn balls, red and white mushrooms, mercury glass pinecones, and red balls that are painted with snowflakes.  Most of the ornaments are from past years.  The only new ones are the red balls with the snowflakes.

I used the same wool ball garland that I had on my tree last year.  I got the wool balls from an amazing Etsy shop, TaDaa Studio Felt and strung them on thin, jute twine to make the garland.

Here’s one last look at the room before we head into the kitchen.

In the kitchen I kept it pretty simple.  The red and white theme continues here with red and white checks and my red Kitchenaid Mixer that always comes out for baking this time of year!

I picked up this lighted star at Ikea for the kitchen window.  I love the glow it casts at night!

When it comes to holiday baking, Christmas cutout cookies are a must!  Look at these fun vintage cookie cutters I found at a local shop.  I love that Santa!  I have quite a collection of these vintage cookie cutters, some from my grandmother and others found at yard sales and antique shops over the years.

And here’s my rolling kitchen cart.  To make it more festive, I added some red and white with a striped ribbon and candy canes.

I made the Holly Jolly sign and it’s available to purchase HERE in my Etsy shop!

And what’s prettier than a primitive wood box filled with mercury glass ornaments and a curled red and white striped ribbon!

I hope you enjoyed my Christmas living room and kitchen spaces!  I have a few more spaces to share with you – my upstairs hallway, the living room entryway, and my powder room.  I’ll be sharing those as soon as I can.

Since I get so many questions asking where I purchased items I use in my decor, I’ve decided to include a source list at the bottom of the post.  I hope that it’s a useful tool for you!
