Black White and Burgundy Christmas Decor

It’s truly is the most wonderful time of the year and today is one of my most favorite days of the year — the day I share my home all decked out for Christmas!  My home tour is part of the Christmas Tour of Homes hosted by my friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life.  If you are here visiting from Simple Stylings, wasn’t Summer’s home gorgeous!   If this is your first visit to my blog, Welcome!!!

My home is in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.   It’s a beautiful area, and I’m so thankful to live here.  My home is small, but my goal is to make it big on style!  We’ve lived here for over 20 years, raised three boys in this home, and we’re in the process of updating several spaces.   My husband and I like to do as much of the work as we can, learning a lot along the way!  And, I share it all here!   I look forward to Christmas each year and often have an idea of how I want to decorate months in advance.

This year, I was really undecided.  I took a poll on facebook and instagram asking whether I should decorate with classic red plaids or burgundy and bronze.  The poll didn’t help me, because it was pretty much a toss up.  So, I decided to go with the burgundy and bronze theme.

But, as I was pulling things together, I changed my plan!  I found that I was loving just the added punch of color from the burgundy with my current black and white decor.  So, black, white and burgundy it is!  We’ll start today’s tour at the entry to our dining room.

I put a small flocked tree in the dining room and I love it!  It’s so nice to have the extra twinkle in this room!   This flocked tree is the perfect size for a small space.  The jingle pillow you see is one that I made way back in 2013 – my first Christmas blogging!  I haven’t used it in quite a few years, but I still love the look.

I decorated the flocked tree with mercury glass ornaments, silver and white ornaments, and burgundy flocked ornaments.   I also added some black and white plaid ribbon and some twig and berry picks.  I placed the entire tree in this basket that had been holding my fiddle leaf fig.   I used some blankets inside the basket to support the tree trunk.

I found the gorgeous burgundy velvet and faux fur runner at HomeGoods and love the contrast with the vintage black dresser.  I made the “Dashing thru the Snow” silhouette sign.  The design is from a vintage book.

I used this black and white buffalo check blanket from the Hearth and Hand collection as my tablecloth.  Sadly, it’s no longer available!  It’s perfect as a tablecloth and has tassels on all four corners.  I planted the paperwhite bulbs on the table in hopes that they would be blooming by picture day, but I think I should have started them a week sooner.   I added some cranberries and more mercury glass to the base of the bulbs.

The burgundy goblets and napkins are new this year.  My flatware is from World Market.  I found the galvanized chargers at HomeGoods and I got the deer salad plates at Pier1 last year – unfortunately, they don’t have them this year.

I found this adorable tin house last year and it’s one of my favorite Christmas decor pieces!

On the opposite side of my kitchen is my kitchen cart holding a mini sled that I’ve had for years and a tiny flocked tree that I decorated with more mercury glass ornaments and used my ironstone soup tureen as a planter.

I’ve also had this pair of tiny black ice skates for years!  I found them at a thrift store when we first moved to Lancaster about 25 years ago.   I pull them out each Christmas and winter season!

Now, let’s move into the living room.  Last year I broke down and purchased a new faux Christmas tree.  And, as much as I love the experience of going out into the field to cut down a Christmas tree, I equally love that I was able to put this tree up right after Halloween!!!  I love the realistic look of this tree.

I didn’t go overboard with the decorations because the tree itself is beautiful!  I purchased one box of matte black ornaments and one box of burgundy ornaments.  Then I used white balls and pinecone ornaments that I had from prior years.  And, I did use the clip on candle lights that I first purchased last year.  They are battery operated and have a remote control that makes them so easy to turn on and off!

I did purchase some new Christmas stockings this year.   And, I love that my mantel is nearly full!!!    Mark and my stockings are the ivory knit on the ends, the three burgundy knit stockings are for my boys, and the buffalo check ones are for the girls!

Above my sofa is another new sign that I made this year with the lyrics from “Go Tell it on the Mountain” and I hung my vintage skis under the sign.

To bring some burgundy into this space, I used these burgundy velvet pillows, this quilted velvet throw hanging on my blanket ladder, quilted velvet lumbar pillows on my gray chairs, a burgundy poinsettia, candle, and even burgundy velvet ribbon on the gifts under the tree.

Opposite the fireplace is my vintage player piano!   I found it on facebook marketplace this past summer and got it for free!!!  It does play, but needs tuned pretty badly!  There are several rolls of Christmas music and I really need to share it playing on instagram stories soon!   Even out of tune, it’s pretty fun to hear!!!  You can find the “peace and joy” banner HERE.

Finally, my entryway features another new sign!  This one I free handed the world “JOY” with bold brushstrokes!

[…] I also changed up the throws on my blanket ladder.  I packed away the quilted velvet burgundy throw and replaced it with a lightweight pale pink one.  And, I replaced the black and ivory plaid throw with a gray and ivory lightweight throw.  Just a simple change, but removing those darker shades does lighten up the space.  You can see the before images in THIS POST.
