Banana Pineapple Dessert

Today I’m sharing an easy and delicious dessert that is the perfect ending for your Easter dinner! This banana pineapple dessert is so easy to make! And, it takes just 30 minutes to put it together. So, even if you don’t think you have time to make dessert, you do!

It’s the first Saturday of April and that means it’s time for another installment of the Cozy Living Series hosted by my friend, Jennifer at Town and Country Living. I always look forward to the cozy inspiration everyone shares on the first Saturday of every month. At the end of today’s recipe post, you’ll find all the links for April posts.

Pineapple dessert

I first made this dessert for a family get together a few years ago and everyone loved it and said “please, make this again”! This dessert is especially good after a big meal because it’s not too heavy or too rich. And, the banana and pineapple combination is the perfect compliment to a traditional Easter dinner, making it one of our family’s favorite pineapple dessert recipes.

Why You Should Make This Dessert

  • It’s a simple layered dessert that looks fancy and has a yummy pineapple flavor
  • Such an easy, quick recipe to make
  • Perfect for holidays and is a family favorite sweet pineapple recipe
  • This great recipe is ready in only 30 minutes
  • This delicious treat can be made as individual servings or as a big dessert

Ingredients Needed

Get more info on these ingredients for this simple recipe in the recipe card towards the bottom of the post.

  • Graham Cracker Crumbs- you can buy premade graham cracker crumbs or you can make your own by crushing graham crackers in a ziptop bag with a rolling pin. Alternatively, you can use a food processor to break up your graham crackers into crumbs for the crust.
  • Sugar
  • Butter – melted butter goes into this recipe
  • Bananas
  • Cream Cheese- using softened cream cheese makes this an easy pineapple dessert to make
  • Cold Milk
  • French Vanilla Instant Pudding – If you can’t find french vanilla, regular Vanilla instant pudding will work, I just like the extra flavor that the French version brings to this dessert
  • Crushed Pineapple- I used canned pineapple for the convenience, but you can absolutely use fresh pineapple and crush it up for this homemade dessert recipe
  • Cool Whip or other whipped topping

How to Make the Best Pineapple Dessert

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and sugar. Add the melted butter. Form graham cracker crust in a 9″ x 13″ glass pan or in individual dessert cups.
  2. Slice bananas and arrange them on top of the graham cracker crust.
  3. Use a mixer to whip cream cheese until smooth in a large bowl. Slowly add the milk and continue mixing. Add the 2 pudding mixes and beat on high until smooth and mixture thickens.
  4. Layer the pudding mixture on top of the sliced bananas.
  5. Spread the drained pineapple chunks evenly over the pudding mixture to create a pineapple filling layer.
  6. Top with thawed Cool Whip.
  7. Sprinkle with extra graham cracker crumbs. Garnish with Annie’s Graham Cracker Bunnies for Easter.
  8. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3 hours before serving.

Storage

Store sweet treat leftovers in an airtight container or covered with foil if not using a container, in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. This will prevent any moisture from affecting the texture of the dessert, and also help preserve flavor.

It is also important to make sure that the fluffy dessert does not come into contact with other foods. Storing it in an airtight container will prevent food odors from penetrating the dessert.

How should I serve this pineapple dessert?

This type of layered dessert is traditionally made in a glass baking dish, but for Easter, I am making this dessert in individual, cut glass dessert dishes. I think this makes the dessert a little more special and I topped each one with some extra graham cracker crumbs and two graham cracker bunnies!

What can I use if I can’t find graham cracker bunnies?

If you can’t find these treats, you can use anything else to garnish this pineapple treat. It doesn’t even have to be graham cracker flavored. We just had these on hand and thought they went nicely with this Pineapple Dessert.

You can try peeps, chocolate bunnies, or anything else you may have on hand for the fest, Easter holiday or spring time.

What toppings can I use with this dessert?

For more toppings on this dessert lasagna, you can try toasted coconut, sweetened or unsweeteneed shredded coconut, crushed pineapple chips, some mandarin oranges, other fresh fruit, or more regular pineapple chunks.

You could also use some mini marshmallows for a delicious and colorful addition if you have the multicolored ones.

If you are looking for more of a crunchy texture, you could add in some crushed graham crackers mixed with melted butter and spread it on top. That would like really complete this dessert and all of its wonderful layers.

If you love lush desserts like this Pineapple Dessert (which really is one of the best pineapple desserts out there), stick around because we have pineapple bars and other fantastic desserts on their way here!

There are so many delicious ways to end your dinner with a sweet and fruity treat. Preparing this Pineapple Dessert is one sure way to please the whole family when it comes to desserts at family gatherings. Enjoy the flavors of fresh pineapple combined with other delicious ingredients.
