A Few of My Favorite Things – Favorite Blogs

Happy Saturday!  I’ve decided to change things with a few of my favorite things-10-15.  Today I’ve decided to share five bloggers who inspire me.  A few I’ve been following since before I began my own blog and some are relatively new to me, but always provide inspiration!  I hope that they inspire you too!  If you don’t already follow these blogs, I highly recommend them.  Now, I’m just sharing five today, but there are many more that I read regularly and I may share more on another day.  So, here are five of my favorite blogs that I read and am inspired by.

Favorite Blogs

Miss Mustard Seed

Miss Mustard Seed - Favorite Blogs

Miss Mustard Seed was the first blog that I discovered about five years ago.  I was inspired by Marian’s story and felt a kindred spirit with her.  She is the wife of a youth pastor, my husband has been a lay youth leader for 30 years.  She has two boys and I have three.  She loves antiques and vintage items and uses them in her decor.  She makes her own slipcovers and curtains.  I could go on and on.   She inspires me every single day!  I have loved watching her blog and business grow over the years and her success is truly deserved.  She has worked hard for what she has achieved.  Most importantly, she Loves the Lord and her gifts are from Him.

Dear Lillie

Dear Lillie - Favorite Blogs

Dear Lillie is probably the second blog I discovered, and I probably found her through Miss Mustard Seed’s blog.  Jennifer is the mother of two adorable little girls.  When I first started following her, her family lived in a town home, and I was just amazed at how she transformed that small home into something spectacular.  Now, she and her family are in a new home and it’s been fun seeing the changes room by room. Her styling is incredible.  And, her photography is top notch.  She can whip up a DIY that you would never know is DIY!     I have to be honest here and say that I have chosen most of the paint colors in my home based on her paint colors.  She just has an eye for what looks good together.  Oh, and I can’t forget – she lives in Colonial Williamsburg (one of my favorite places to visit)!

Thistlewood Farms

Thistlewood Farm - Favorite Blogs

If you like a good story that can make you laugh and cry at the same time, along with beautiful images from a  farmhouse in Kentucky – well Karianne’s blog is for you!  This lady is genuine and real, the best storyteller, and decorator extrordinare!  She began blogging about a year before me, but she rose to the top quickly!   She was Country Living’s Blue Ribbon Blogger of the Year for Decorating in 2012 (she began her blog in December of 2011)!  Karianne shares her love of vintage, taking the worn out and making it into something amazing, and a good bargain!  She shares her heart in everything she does!

At The Picket Fence

At the Picket Fence - Favorite Blogs

This is another blog that I found early on in my blogging adventure.  I loved the concept of this blog – two sisters living on the opposite ends of the country, blogging together to share projects they are working on in their homes!  This is not just a home decor blog – it’s so much more.  Great writing from the heart and real life stories make this blog more than just a pretty picture.  Vanessa and Heather just published their first book and I am so excited for them.  It’s called “Life in Season – Celebrate the Moments that Fill Your Heart and Home”.  This book is on my Christmas gift giving list.   You can purchase your copy HERE.

Kelly Elko – Love Where You Live

Kelly Elko - Favorite Blogs

Kelly just rebranded her blog.  It was formerly called “Eclectically Vintage”.   Those two words totally describe Kelly’s style!  She loves to scout out estate sales for vintage treasures for her home.  But, she mixes these pieces with some modern pieces for an eclectic mix that works perfectly!  I love visiting Kelly’s blog because her style is so unique and fresh!  She has the most amazing red stove in her kitchen and now my dream to have a red stove!  She has pops of color throughout her home and isn’t afraid to try new things!  And, it just works!  I guarantee you’ll be inspired by Kelly’s eclectic style!  And, she has the most adorable dog and his name is Sushi!

I hope you’ve enjoyed hearing about my favorite blogs and why I love them so!  If you have some down time this weekend, visit these blogs and I think you’ll find that they will soon be your favorites too!

This is fun!! I remember starting my blog following. Who were the big names back then. Some have stayed in my in box but some I try new to stir things up a bit. The last blog is the only one I have not heard of before. Great to know what's great out there!!! I love to read blogs. I was injured and found free short reading on subjects I liked. Not so many pop ups back then!!! Slowly I was reading better and I'd write comments. Partly I think from my injury. I don't want people to feel no one cares nor appreciates all the hard work for each post. So my writing improved also due to blogs!!! I began looking for decorating blogs with some diy added. I wanted Christian authors. I'm not sure how I stumbled on to your site but it's one that has grown sooo much in the years. I look to,open it first. It fills a quiet household. I'm housebound . I incorporate ideas I glean and I love to open your blog a lot too!!! Thank yo,,,your, parent involvement is understood.
