As I’ve mentioned here on the blog, Mark and I have been going some some auctions this summer. It’s such a fun experience and exciting too when you are in a bidding war over a piece of furniture! I always set a limit in my head and really try not to go over it. I’m really excited to share my latest auction win – new dining room chairs!
About a month ago we were at an auction and I saw four chairs that looked like Ikea slipcovered dining chairs. I checked under the white covers and sure enough, they were Ikea Henriksdal chairs.
These chairs are a Parson’s chair style and Ikea sells different slipcovers for them. At Ikea the chairs sell for $69 each and the skirted slipcovers are $29 each.
Mark asked what my limit was on the chairs. I said, $100. Can you believe I won them for $25 – all four chairs for $25! They are in like new condition. I brought them home and washed the white slipcovers that were on the chairs. But, I knew I wanted to get skirted slipcovers.
I ended up purchasing these gray checked ones. I just looked on the Ikea site and don’t see them listed anymore? So, I’m glad I got them when I did. I’ll probably get white ones as well and now I see they are selling charcoal gray ones too – Yay!
These chairs are so comfortable and I love how they look with the new farmhouse tabletop. You probably also noticed that I changed the look of my vintage farmhouse bench. I stripped off the black paint and stained the seat to match the table top and painted the base white. Now, I think my corner cabinet may need to have some white accents or go all white? We’ll see. I’ll start with accents to see how it looks! Change one thing and it starts a cycle! Hope your week is off to a great start!!
P.S. I’m heading to the auction later today and will be broadcasting live on Periscope if you’d like to join me there and see what cool things I can find this week!
