I’m so excited to be sharing my living room and dining room today as part of A Stroll Thru Life’s Summer Home Tours! If you are here visiting from Alicia’s lovely home, Thrifty and Chic – Welcome! I’m featuring a lot of subdued yellow accent pieces in my summer decor! I’m not someone who gravitates toward a bright neon or even a bold sunny yellow, but a “mellow yellow” works “quite rightly” with my more neutral decor!! So, let’s get this tour started in my living room.
Living Room
In this space, I brought in some color with the vintage botanical lemon prints that flank my mantel. You can download these prints from my FREE Printable Library (for email subscribers). If you don’t already follow me via email, you can subscribe HERE.
I love these candlewick pillows that look vintage on my sofa. I pared them with yellow striped pillows and a yellow patterned lumbar pillow that I had on hand.
A few fresh lemons in a bowl and a lemon citrus candle from Target add just a small pop of yellow to this wicker tray.
I kept the mantel top pretty simple with a large brass vase of Solomon’s Seal branches from my garden. The variegated leaves and arching branches make such a pretty arrangement!
Finding the right shade of yellow can be tricky, but these yellow pillows with jute trim are perfect in my space. They coordinate well with the Hearth and Hand ivory and yellow striped pillows.
In addition to the yellow accents, I made a concerted effort to bring the outdoors in with some plants and fresh greenery. This large hanging basket fern from Ikea was under $13! I removed the hanger and placed it inside this basket from Target.
Because I get so much sunlight from my front windows, it’s hard to capture the macrame hanging planters in each window. I love the relaxed summer feeling they bring to my living room. To brighten up this space for summer, I removed the black and white rug that I had layered over this ivory jute rug.
Opposite the mantel is my vintage player piano. I added a few petite vases with fresh cuttings from my garden to brighten up the top of the piano for summer.
Dining Room
The focal point in this space is the cow art on the wall. I took this photo a few weeks ago and thought it would work well with my yellow summer decor. The cow was resting in the shade in a field of yellow flowers (probably weeds, but pretty just the same)!
I had the photo enlarged, printed onto canvas and framed for my dining room. I love how it turned out!
A bouquet of daisies, yarrow, and wildflowers make a casual summer centerpiece. I kept my tablescape simple with some fresh cut Solomon’s Seal greens and lemons scattered down the table runner.
Thanks so much for stopping by today to see my “mellow yellow” summer decor! I’ll be back on Friday to share my summer screen porch! Next up in today’s home tours is Haneen, of Haneen’s Haven! Our styles couldn’t be more different, but oh how I love the way Haneen decorates her home! It’s a must see on this summer tour schedule!
