I added some ocean themed touches to the nursery for the summer months and thought that today was a good time to share them with you! Let’s start with the reading nook. I found some age appropriate ocean themed board books to read to Daphne! It’s been great for her to learn about the ocean and sea life before her visit to the beach as a toddler!

I found this large stuffed Narwhal and it is amazing! Daphne loves to give it hugs because it is soooo soft!
I used large, green/blue quilted Euro pillows on either end of the reading nook. The coral shell print fabric on the next pillow is from a twin sheet from Target. I loved this shell print and it’s so easy to stitch up a pillow cover! The clam shell pillow is from Crate and Barrel Kids. And, the tufted pom pom lumbar pillow is from West Elm. This Ocean pop up book is one of Daphne’s favorites!
On the book shelves I added in a few more summery touches – little sunglasses and rain boots from Target on the top shelf.
This mermaid doll is another favorite! She is so sweet and soft as well! The little clam shell basket purse is from Ollie and Ella.
And, inside the clam shell is a mermaid Holdie Folk, also from Ollie and Ella.
This sweet “The World is Your Oyster” sign is from Target’s Pillowfort Collection for kids.
I found this shape sorting sand bucket at HomeGoods. And, here’s a look at the cover of that cute Ocean pop-up book.
On the hanging vintage shelf that we made, I added the vintage beach art that I shared with you earlier this summer! And, some starfish! I made a seashell garland to drape across the hooks and it was so easy. I had shells that had pre-drilled holes in them. So, I just strung the shells and tied them in place.
Here’s the cutest swim suit that I found on Amazon for Daphne! The quality is really good and the mirrored swans are adorable! (update: Summer of 2022. I just ordered this same suit for both girls this summer as well! It’s adorable and so well made and has good coverage for the hot summer sun!)
Here are the pinwheels that I made using leftover fabric that I had on hand from the book shelves. I used spray adhesive to attach the fabric to a sheet of paper. I ironed it prior to attaching to the paper and then ironed the fabric covered paper before cutting to make the pinwheel. Get my pinwheel pattern in this post. And, this little stuffed flamingo is so sweet. Daphne just calls it “bird”! And, I loved introducing her to seashells and starfish prior to our beach trip!
I never really did anything with the wall behind the crib in the nursery. But, this summer I decided to paint a large sun mural behind the crib in a muted yellow and I love it! So does Daphne!
In the crib itself is another clam shell shaped pillow and her favorite animal to sleep with, the llama! Since she is nearly two, I let her have a few things in the crib with her at naptime.
I hope you enjoyed this look at the ocean themed nursery! I can’t believe that next summer we’ll have two little grands to share this fun space!

This is such a darling space. It’s hard to believe your little new granddaughter is two! What a fun room you’ve created for her. This looks like designer photos. You are so gifted as a designer. This would make every child want to stay and play and read and sleep too! Enjoy your special times together!
