One Room Challenge – Home Office

October 5, 2017 by Hymns and Verses 13 Comments

Hi, friends.  If you follow me on the new facebook group page, Hymns and Verses – Behind the Scenes, you know I teased that today I’d be sharing something new and a bit scary.  For the first time, I’m participating in the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda of Calling it Home.

One Room Challenge

The One Room Challenge is a six week challenge where bloggers transform a space in their home from start to finish.  There are design participants who are selected to participate and a chance for any blogger to participate as a guest.   For this challenge, I’m transforming what was my middle son’s bedroom into a home office space for me!  Yay!!!  I’ve been working from our family room, but I’m so excited to finally have a space just for me to work.  Here are some honest before shots of how the room looks today.

Caleb painted this cool feature wall, but it’s going to be covered up with this pretty wallpaper!

One Room Challenge - Wallpaper

I have lots of plans for this room and created a style board to share the overall concept for the space.  Basically I want a desk and a counter height work area with storage to sew, make signs, craft, etc.  We are going to create great storage in the closet to help me get at least some of my home decor accessories corralled into one location!  Right now, I have things here, there, and everywhere!

If there is time, I would like to change out the existing door for a sliding barn door.   Of course the ceiling light, while cool, is not my style!  So, I think we are going to DIY a drum shade hanging fixture.  For the first week, we are going to tackle the closet, so I’ll be sharing that – hopefully completed – next Thursday!  I know keeping to this time line will be a challenge – I’m so excited to have my own work space!  Wish me (us) luck!  If you want to see more guest participants in the One Room Challenge – click HERE.

Wow that is a lot of work. Hope it runs again next year. I had a stroke about a year ago with coma for 4 1/2 weeks. Still have big balance issues so I have to wear a gate belt 24/7😒I am so grateful that my husband is a huge help to me.

I’m anxious to see what you do with the closet. My craft and sewing closet needs a redo.

Wow, what a project! We’re doing our master this round (first timers) but our home office will be next on the list – it’s a hot mess. Can’t wait to see how this space turns out and to follow along with your project! Good luck!

I’ve been making over my son’s old bedroom for my craft room. It’s a challenge worth taking. Your design board gave me some great ideas. Thanks!

Oh hhh best to you!!! I did 30 Day challenges with Thrift Diving and although we could choose whatever we wanted to complete, I was glad for a challenge. It pushed me to accomplish more than I’d do without the challenge!!! I love your wallpaper choice ❤️ Happy closet transformation!!!

Best wishes to you… looks pretty. And your own space is a great thing to have.
One thing you forgot to add to your idea board:
    A take out menu!

If anyone can do it, you will do it. I love the wall paper, and cannot wait to see the room when it is finished. Good luck and God Bless You.
