Target Summer Basket Becomes a Chic Side Table

August 5, 2015 by Hymns and Verses 12 Comments

Don’t you just love Target clearance!  It’s the best!  I just happened to be there a day this summer when they must have just marked down a lot of summer decor items.  I did show some restraint, but this wicker basket (and a few other things) did come home with me.  I knew it could make a great summertime end table in the living room!

I really needed a small table for beside the sofa.  I like to sit there at night and read, so I needed a table for a lamp.

This basket turned upside down formed the base for a small wicker table.

I used wood I had on hand to make the top.  Mark cut two boards to size and used the Krig Jig to join the two pieces of wood together.  I stained the wood with a custom mixture of  Rustoleum Weathered Gray and Minwax Provincial.

Then for some detail – I purchased these simple brass brackets for a couple dollars at Lowe’s  and attached one to each corner.  I am really liking the look of brass with gray lately!

When you are looking for a piece of accent furniture, don’t forget to look at unconventional pieces AND always check the Target clearance aisles!
