Playing Card Banner for Valentine’s Day

January 29, 2014 by Hymns and Verses 17 Comments

Hi, Friends.  I’m here today to share an easy Valentine’s Day playing card banner!  Valentine’s Day is a holiday where I really like to get creative and repurpose things I have in my home.  I already have so much decor for Christmas and the seasons, that I don’t want to purchase a lot of decor just for Valentine’s Day – because that means I have to store it somewhere – ha, ha!!!

That’s okay – you can make some things in an afternoon that can dress up your home for Valentine’s Day.   In this vignette, I made the “Love” pillow from a remnant piece of fabric that I had on hand and some white paint.

Pom Pom Wreath and Playing Card Banner

It’s so easy to make a pom pom wreath like this.  And, if you are like me, you probably has some yarn somewhere in your home!   If you don’t know how to make a yarn pom pom, I have an easy tutorial HERE.

To make this fun playing card banner – just punch tiny holes in the top corners of the playing cards and string them  together with red and white baker’s twine.  Of course, I used all the “heart” cards (if you live with men who play poker, you’ll need to replace that pack)!   But, the guys will appreciate this fun banner that isn’t girly, but still celebrates Valentine’s Day!

In the mail basket are some love letters written by my mom when she was in college to my father!  There was a whole box of them that she had saved in the old steamer trunk that belonged to my grandparents.  You can read more about it HERE.   It was fun reading through some of these letters written so long ago!  The one thing I did purchase – this pretty bunch of fresh tulips from the grocery store for $6.99.

What wonderful ideas Doreen! I made a similar wreath a couple weeks ago, but never thought to add it to my Valentine's Day decor! You are a clever one!
