Welcome to the Summer Tour of Homes sponsored by Marty of a Stroll Thru Life! If you are here visiting from The Chronicles of Home, welcome! I’m so glad to have you here! Wasn’t Jennifer’s summer home just lovely! For my 2017 summer home tour I decided to go bold or go home! If you follow me regularly, you know that I typically decorate with neutrals, but do like to add pops of seasonal color.
I rehung my black and white buffalo check curtains in my living room and you can see that my pop of color is a bright, fuchsia pink!
Isn’t this floral print amazing! I fell in love the moment I laid eyes on it!
I painted my fireplace mantel black! As I was painting it, I was worried I had made a big mistake, but now that it’s finished, I really like the contrast of the bold black against the faux shiplap wall.
Here’s the other side of the room with my white sofa and bold pops of fuchsia, black, and white. The fuchsia pillow covers are from Pottery Barn. I got them years ago and never used them. I paired them with black and white pillow covers from Ikea and I made the lumbar pillow from a table runner that I found at HomeGoods. I love to repurpose fabrics!
I got a new bench for this small half wall. It’s from Target and is the Windsor bench from their outdoor furniture line. I loved the lines and that it is small, so I can move it to other rooms easily or even on my porch. It will also give us a few extra seats when we have company. Now lets head into the dining room.
My antique dresser/buffet also underwent a transformation to black. I love how it turned out with the original brass hardware. I’ll be sharing more about what paint I used for this project in a separate post.
And, here’s my latest treasure! I found this vintage scale on Craigslist for $30! It’s in great condition and it looks so pretty holding some summertime fuchsia flowers.
To bring in a little more color, I used green accents here and there with limes, some clipped Hosta leaves, and a few live plants.
Here’s a shot into my kitchen. This is the most difficult area for me to photograph because of the direct light from the kitchen window. But, here’s a shot so you can get an idea of the space.
Opposite the kitchen counter is my rolling kitchen cart that Mark built for me. Above it we made a wall chart chalkboard. It was an easy project and I’ll be sharing the tutorial soon.
Now let’s head upstairs to our master bedroom. I continued the pink theme here, but instead of a bright and bold fuchsia pink, I brought in a softer, peachy pink with an inexpensive quilt from HomeGoods.
Old shutters got a fresh coat of white paint and I love how they look against the faux planked wall.
And, what would a home tour be without a photo of my sweet mascot, Sadie! You guys, this girl is a serious diva. I literally have to chase her out of my camera shots! There were so many pics with this girl in them, but this is the one I chose to share!
I made the sanctuary sign and I may sell it in my Etsy shop if there is interest.
Thanks so much for stopping by today for my summer home tour! Next up is the fabulous Melaine from My Sweet Savannah. Melaine’s home is gorgeous and is so warm and welcoming. Hi, Sarah. The fabric was purchased at JoAnn's last year and was actually not a decor fabric, but apparel. But, I just loved the print! Wish I could help further.

Can you tell me the brand, color and finish (satin, egg shell) of the wall color used with the black and white pics. Buffalo plaid curtains, white couch w hot pink pillows, kitchen w w small checked chairs. This whole color scheme is what I’m seriously trying to achieve. Would love the white tone paint color info please!!!!
