5 Minute Summer Wreath

Earlier this week I shared my recently updated front porch.  If you missed it, you can see it HERE.   The flowers I used for summer are bright pink geraniums.  They just pop!  I wanted a summer wreath that would coordinate with those pretty geraniums.  My search lead me to an inexpensive and easy way to make a wreath that will coordinate with your decor.  So, today, I’m going to show you how to make an affordable 5 minute summer wreath!

5 Minute Summer Wreath

I searched and searched for a wreath for my front door that would coordinate with the bright pink flowers with little luck.  First, have you noticed the price of wreaths lately?  They can be really expensive for a nice one.  And, I just couldn’t find one with the simple style I was looking for.  I prefer a full symmetrical wreath with flowers or greenery that goes the whole way around the wreath frame.  It’s just what I like, not that other styles aren’t pretty too!   I did find some wreaths that had flowers on one side or the other, top or bottom, but couldn’t find any in the color that I needed with flowers around the entire wreath.   In my search I visited most of the popular craft store chains – Hobby Lobby, Michaels, AC Moore, and a local faux flower market.  I finally found something that would make the perfect wreath for my porch – a floral garland!

5 Minute Summer Wreath with Floral Garland

Almost all of the above craft stores had floral garlands, but it wasn’t until I found this one with pink geraniums that I knew I had a winner!  These garlands are generally pretty inexpensive – around $15 on average.  But, most of these stores have coupons and sales often for 50% off, which brings that price down to under $10!  Then, you only need a few items that you might already have in your home.

5 Minute Summer Wreath Supplies

Here’s what you need:  A grapevine or similar wreath form.  Thin green craft wire (I purchase it on a paddle like shown above.  Scissors to cut the wire.  That’s it!  You can always purchase a new grapevine wreath from the craft store.  A basic grapevine wreath can be changed out easily from season to season using this method.  You can also repurpose a grapevine wreath from a wreath that you have on hand, but are tired of.  Or, be thrifty and check your local thrift shop for a grapevine wreath.  I have a basic grapevine wreath that I purchased new and keep it on hand for making my own wreaths.  To make this 5 minute wreath, you just need to lay out the garland on top of the grapevine wreath to your liking and use the floral wire (cut into 5 or 6″ pieces) to attach the garland to the wreath.  I used above 5 pieces of wire total to attach the garland.  That’s it!  Wasn’t that easy and, seriously, I did this in 5 minutes!  When you use a grapevine wreath, you may not even need anything special for hanging the wreath.  I just slip my over the door hanger into the grapevine and it holds just fine.

So, what do you think?   Would you consider making your own wreath now that you’ve seen this easy method?  Just think about how you could make a wreath like this for fall with a garland of fall leaves or Christmas with a garland of mixed Christmas greens and flowers!  I hope you’ll give this easy 5 minute summer wreath a try for your own front door!

Has the password changed? And if so, can you send me the updated one? Otherwise...what am I doing wrong? Thanks so much! Always enjoy everything about your blog.

I love the way you made that beautiful wreath. Those Geraniums are gorgeous. Pink is my favorite color, so those Geraniums have really caught my eye. You did such a great job with the wreath.
