It’s officially the Christmas season and my home is ready for it! Welcome to my 2021 Very Merry Christmas home tour! I’m so glad you’re here! Each year I join a group of blogging friends to share our holiday homes with you. The tour is hosted by Marty of A Stroll Thru Life and this year there are 30+ homes to tour virtually this week!

If you’re here visiting from White Arrows Home, welcome! I loved seeing Kristen’s cozy Christmas cabin in the snow! And, at the end of today’s post, you’ll find links to all of the other holiday homes on this week’s tour! So, grab a cup of your favorite morning beverage and let’s get started!
A very merry Christmas Home Tour
We’ll begin my tour today in the living room. This is the room where you enter my home. And, how about this plaid rug! I used this same rug in a smaller size and used it layered in this same space two years ago. I loved the rug so much, that I decided to buy the same rug again in a larger size for this year! It’s so affordable and really makes a Christmas statement! And, I can use it in other rooms in my home in the years to come.
Here’s a closer look at the mantel. I kept the oval vintage mirror over the fireplace and added some faux greens. The carved wooden sculpture of Mary holding baby Jesus on the donkey with Joseph walking beside is a favorite. I found it last year at a local shop and love it. And, I paired it with this black and white art from Lindsay Letters that I purchased a few years ago and put it in this vintage gold frame. This star on the stand is from Target last year.
This year I hung our stockings on the blanket ladder. All of the kids and granddaughter’s stockings are hanging in our family room downstairs this year.
And, this little arrangement using a variety of evergreens, red Hypernicum berries, and dried hydrangea from my yard turned out so sweet.
The rug really brings Christmas to this space, but when you find the absolute perfect fabric to coordinate with a red plaid rug, the angels sing! These easy lined curtain panels were made with fabric that I found at Ikea.
Now, don’t go to the Ikea website to find this fabric in the fabric section because it’s actually a king sized duvet cover that I cut apart to make these lined curtain panels! The modern folk art floral print of the Sammetsblad duvet cover works so well with the plaid rug. Lined curtain panels are so easy to make, even if you don’t sew much! It’s just straight stitching!
I’ll be sharing a tutorial soon to show you how easy it is to make them! I brought in this pretty salvage door and painted it green (Luxe by Magnolia paint). It’s the same shade as my corner cabinet in the dining room.
Since my vintage player piano is holding a lot of plants this year, I simply added a string of fairy lights to the display and that’s all it needed. The pretty green plant pots are another Ikea find!
DINING ROOM
Now, let’s transition into the dining area. I created another gallery wall in this small space of wall between the living room and dining room.
Here’s a close up of some of the artwork I chose for this display. The angel is definitely my favorite, but I love all the pieces. I’ll be sharing all the details for this gallery wall soon, so please sign up to get my emails if you aren’t already!
All of the art is public domain and can be downloaded for free. And, I’ll share the sources. The “Joy to the World” print with the vintage horn will be available as a Free download soon in my Free Printable Library.
I got a new flocked Christmas tree that I used in the dining room this year. You can read more about it in this post. It’s a 7.5′ slim tree and it’s perfect to tuck into a small space.
I made an evergreen and white Lilly arrangement for the vintage dresser in the dining room. Beside it is a bowl of ornaments, white washed pinecones and some cedar.
And, here’s a close up view of the inside of the vintage corner cabinet. If you’re new here, this piece was built by my great great grandfather and used to sit in my grandmother’s kitchen. It was painted white with black trim, as I remember.
My dining room and kitchen Christmas decor is more neutral with pops of green. On the tree there are green, white and mercury glass ornaments. As the song says, “Silver and Gold mean so much more when I see, Silver and Gold decorations on every Christmas tree”. I don’t have gold on my tree, but there are a lot of brass accents in my dining room and the silver mercury glass works mixed in, especially at Christmastime!
Under the tree is a basket of small gifts whapped in white and green. The green wrapping paper is inexpensive painter’s masking paper. And, the pretty white boxes are from Target.
I have a combined dining room/kitchen area. So, looking from the area of the tree into the kitchen, this is your view.
Here’s a better view of my kitchen, from the gallery wall area.
I made this little Christmas terrarium using this new terrarium frame from Ikea. I added soil, moss, and a small Christmas cactus, a frosty fern, and a Lavendar topiary planted inside. Then, I added a few branches with sparkle, a mercury glass ornament, and a dusting of faux snow. The small flocked tree beside the terrarium is from Target a few years ago.
Finally, here’s the small wall on the other side of my kitchen island. It’s full of useful decor! I like my kitchen towels and, even my apron, to match my decor since it hangs here on the wall! This apron is from my sweet friend, Jen, of the Everyday Farmhouse and she sells them in her shop! It’s a linen/cotton blend and the color is perfect. It’s a criss cross back style that is adjustable and I just love it!
