Built-In Closet Industrial Desk

April 17, 2015 by Hymns and Verses 12 Comments

Wow – it’s been a while since I’ve been here with a new post!  Lots of blog distractions – middle son leaving for a month long tour with his band, tax procrastination, some issues with my 86 year old dad, and the loss of all my Etsy shop computer design files!!! But, the taxes are now filed, my dad is doing better, my son is off, and I’m still praying we’ll be able to recover my design files!  Today, I thought I’d share a recent DIY – a  built-in closet industrial desk – now that’s a mouthful!

In Closet DIY Desk

The beginning of this year we began to update my youngest son’s bedroom.  It’s a teeny, tiny room and space is at a premium.  So, we decided to build his desk right into the closet space.

DIY Pipe and Wood Standing Desk

Here are the specific things Seth wanted in a desk –
industrial style
to be able to sit OR stand at the desk
have room for all of his electronics

Built In Closet Desk
It’s a plumbing pipe and wood desk  with a shelf above.  Seth and Mark worked on the project together – father & son bonding time! While they worked on the desk, I went shopping for a stool and made the tin and wood “Cagno” sign.
Vintage Accessories
For the wood I used a mix of brown and gray stains to continue the industrial vibe.

Seth is happy with how the project turned out and he spends a lot of time at this desk doing college homework, gaming, and video chats with his girl!

I’ll be back soon to share all of the DIY details for both the standing closet desk and the tin and wood sign.

P.S.  If you are wondering where he keeps his clothes – that’s another project – stay tuned!

That's very cool! I think both of my sons need one of those. Looking forward to the instructions.

What else would the girls be thinking about, other than where are the clothes? LOVE this project, that desk is amazing, really a cool space!
