Monkey Fist Rope Knot Tutorial

Today, I have a post that I updated for Home and Decor Encore that dates back to my early blogging days!  It’s a monkey fist rope knot tutorial.

Summer Porch Decor with DIY Monkey Fist Rope Knot

Have you seen these rope knots in decor catalogs or stores that sell home decor?  When I originally posted this tutorial, these monkey fist rope knots were very popular in home decor.  But, I do think they are classic and work well in summer decor especially.

They have a slightly nautical feel to them since they are made from jute rope and, of course, the knot itself has a nautical look.  Many decor stores sell these rope knots as a door stop with a weight inside, but my version is purely a decorative accessory.

A monkey fist rope knot looks great hanging from a door knob or styled with a stack of books, a lantern, or any beachy, summer decor.   And, if you’re heading to the beach for the week, pick up the supplies and have a craft night there with family or friends!   It’s a great project to do together! And, I also share some other quick projects to make with any leftover rope!
