Here’s a last minute decor idea for Independence Day! I created a printable with the words to “My Country Tis of Thee” and used it to make a large hanging scroll.
“MY COUNTRY TIS OF THEE” LYRIC PRINTABLE SCROLL
The My Country ‘Tis of Thee print is formatted as a 24″ x 36″ black and white print. I had it printed at my local copy center on inexpensive paper that is typically used for engineering or blue prints. Besides the enlarged print itself, you only need three things to make this scroll: 4 paperclips, a dowel rod cut to 26 inches and some rope or twine to hang the scroll.
To make the scroll, just loosely roll the top and bottom edges of the paper and secure the roll with a paperclip on each end. Insert the wooden dowel rod through the top rolled edge. Then, take the twine or rope and tie to each side of the dowel rod to form a hanger. This project is so simple, yet makes a big statement piece for your wall for the upcoming July 4th holiday weekend! Of course, you could just frame this print if you prefer! I think it would look stunning in a simple black frame with a white mat.
I trimmed my endless summer hydrangea that is full of pretty blue blooms to make this arrangement. Then, I filled a small basket with various starfish and added an American flag for this patriotic vignette on my library table.
