It’s finally here – the official first day of Spring!!! And, it’s spring tour day here at Hymns and Verses! I’m so excited to be joining Marty from A Stroll Thru Life and 30 fabulous bloggers for the 2019 Spring Tour of Homes. It’s so fun to see how everyone brings a little bit of spring into their homes! You can find the complete tour schedule with links at the end of this post. If you’re visiting from Follow the Yellow Brick Home, welcome! For my spring home, I brought some of my favorite color into my spring decor – you guessed it – PINK! Welcome to my “pretty in pink” spring home!

Living Room
We’ll start in the living room where I added a few subtle touches on pink. I painted the primitive artwork above my mantel. I’ve been wanting to do more painting. So, when I couldn’t find just what I wanted for above my mantel, I decided to pick up the paint brushes and create my own art.
I used to do some rug hooking, not latch hook, but using wool strips. It’s an early American art form, and I loved the primitive floral designs you find in hand hooked rugs. One of those rug designs was my inspiration for this floral painting.
A blush pink candle and pale pink velvet lumbar pillows bring out the pink tones in my painting.
I wanted to keep things more simple this spring. We brought down a whole bin of spring and Easter decor from the attic, but this bunny is the only thing I used this year. One thing I can’t resist are fresh willow branches! They are so pretty in a simple ceramic crock.
This round basket had been hanging on the old door seen in the previous photo, but I decided to move it here to the entryway. I often have a sign hanging in this spot, but was ready for a change and I like the different textures of the baskets.
Another change in my living room is this architectural shelf above the sofa. I’ll be sharing more about it soon.
The pink pillow on my sofa is a new favorite! I fell in love with the vintage design and the black tones mixed with the pink. And, just a few more subtle pink touches on the basket, and throw blanket. If you are adding color with accessories, just be careful that they all have the same tone.
You don’t see a lot of my player piano here on the blog, but it’s one of my favorite finds!
Dining Room & Kitchen
In the kitchen and dining room, I continued the “pretty in pink” theme by adding a few pink accessories to this black and white space.
Some pretty pink tulips from the grocery store freshen up the sink along with a pretty pink striped tea towel.
The kitchen cart holds my baking supplies, baskets with tea towels and my favorite cookbooks, mixing bowls, etc. I tried to keep it simple by adding just a few spring accents.
This basket of flowers is my absolute favorite part of my tour! Can you believe I found these flowers at the grocery store! I absolutely love this cottage style bouquet!
I placed them in a glass jar and then put the jar inside the basket. I’m hoping that they will dry, so I can keep this arrangement!
This vintage scale with the Peacock fern used to be on the library table in the living room, but I decided to move it to this spot. The fern seems to like the light it gets from the French doors!
Thanks so much for stopping by today on this first day of Spring! I hope your day is full of spring sunshine where you live! And, please stop back here on Friday to see my bedroom freshened up for spring! Next up on today’s Spring Tour of Homes is Alicia from Thrifty and Chic!

Absolutely beautiful! You are so talented. Love it all. Was wondering if you could share info about the basket on the hook by the entry and the round pillow on the trunk with the pom poms on it. Thank you. Happy Spring!

I love your touches of pink, so pretty and so subtle. Your painting is stunning, wow, that is such talent. Your home looks so inviting and I adore that floral basket in the dining room too. So pretty, but my heart always drools over the fern in the scales. Gorgeous. Thanks so much for joining the 2019 Spring Home Tour.
