Auction Find Update with Coral Color Paint

This is one of those makeover posts that we all love where the ugly duckling becomes a beautiful swan!  Look at this cute little table I found at the local auction a few weeks ago.  Poor thing had been used and abused, but look at those details!  I fell in love with it and stood out in the hot summer sun  to bid on it.  I was determined to win this little table and did – for $15!  Yay!  This little table would soon be in it’s new home on my screen porch!   But first, it needed some love and an update with a fun summery color!    I searched the paint wall at my local Benjamin Moore retailer and found the perfect coral color – Coral Gables.

The first thing that needed to happen was to give the piece a good cleaning followed by a light sanding.  This step is important because I used a latex paint.   I like to use a satin finish latex paint for pieces that I keep out on my screen porch.  I just think that finish protects the wood better.  Because this table is small, it didn’t take long to make the transformation from beat up and forgotten to beautiful!

The Perfect Coral Color

Isn’t the coral color amazing!  And, here’s a close up of those pretty cut out details! They were a pain to paint, but so worth it!

And here’s another recent find – a box planter made from barn wood siding!  What I love most is the leather strap handle with the rusty hook clasp!

And, these coral petunias are a perfect fit!  Here’s a look at this piece next to my vintage metal rocker on the porch!  It’s the perfect accent table with it’s new coral color!

WOW!!!! What a treasure! Your makeover is amazing!!! Even the beat-up original had charm, but wearing it's new "coat" in that luscious summertime color - that matches your petunias so perfectly well.......whoo hoo! Nailed it!

Well done. Makes me happy seeing that color.

You turned that sweet little table from drab to fab, Doreen. I find myself drawn to white paint 🎨 90% of the time but this “Coral Gables” has me thinking. It’s not an “In you face” color it’s soft and appealing. Love ❤️ it.
