In today’s post, I want to show you how to make a bicycle basket planter to use in your landscape.
Way back in 2012, the year I first started this blog, I was inspired by another blogger’s beautiful photo of a bicycle with a basketful of flowers. They were loose flowers, like they had been purchased from a flower cart along the streets of Paris (well, that’s how I imagined it). But, they were likely staged for a photo!
Regardless, it prompted an idea for my sister’s old Schwinn bicycle that was sitting neglected in my garden shed. I pulled out the bicycle and found a basket that I could use for a makeshift bicycle basket. And, then I planted some summer annuals in the bicycle basket! My original post about this bicycle basket planter was in 2012 and then I updated it in 2013. And, once more the following year.
And, I’m so excited to tell you that the story of this bicycle basket planter will be featured in the June edition of HGTV Magazine. I was so surprised when they reached out to me to feature this project from all those years ago! So, I decided to update that old blog post with fresh photos and improved content for today’s Home and Decor Encore.
Welcome to Home and Decor Encore
In case you’re new here, each Friday a few of my blogging friends and I take an old blog post from our archives and share it for Home and Decor Encore. And, sometimes that old blog post needs to be updated! My original post was pretty lacking. So, I completely rewrote the post to share today and even updated some of the old photos. To view today’s posts, just click on the BOLD titles above each photo below. That will take you to the original post that’s now been updated! And, be sure to PIN from the original blog posts and not from the photos on this page!
I hope you enjoy this weekly feature and find some inspiration to use in your own home!
