I recently saw a sign that read “take me to the sea” and it really spoke to me. I just can’t get enough beach time in the summer months! And, that’s why I decided to give my bedroom a summer update in a coastal cottage style!

I’m joining my friend, Marty from A Stroll Thru Life and 17 other bloggers to share our inviting summer bedrooms this week! If you’re here visiting from Jenn at Clean and Scentsible, “Welcome to my home”!
Coastal Cottage Style Bedroom

When Mark and I were dating (and the first few years of our marriage), his grandmother owned a sweet little cottage at the beach! If I remember correctly, it had just two (or maybe three) bedrooms, a small living room, and an eat in kitchen! It was two houses from the beach and was so charming! That cozy beach cottage style is the look I was going for in my summer bedroom.
SUMMER BED LINENS

My bedding for summer is a lightweight white linen quilt. I found the aqua quilt recently at a thrift store! It was in great condition and was under $5! So, I didn’t mind cutting it to make the two euro pillows on the bed. And, it still left me with a large quilted throw for the foot of the bed. The aqua color of this quilt is perfect for the summer months! And, the two small woven lumbar pillows were on my screen porch, but I brought them in because they work perfectly with this coastal look!
COTTAGE COASTAL STYLE ARTWORK AND ACCESSORIES

The artwork above the bed is a photography print that I purchased from BFF Print Shop. I’ve purchased other prints from this small business and it’s one of my go to places to find inexpensive artwork for my home! The hanging basket cat perch you see by the window was one of my very first DIY projects for the blog and is still my most popular blog post ever! And, Sadie still loves to bird watch and take cat naps there!

In the summer months I like to carry straw and rattan handbags and wear straw hats. I’ve used my blanket ladder to hold some of them so they are easy to grab and switch out when I want a change!

The sweet little baskets on the nightstand were a recent Ikea find. They actually come in a set of three, and I’m using the smallest one to hold paperclips in my office.

Do you remember the vintage birdcage that I had on my screened porch last year? Well, here it is on my dresser with a fern inside. And, I picked up a palm plant that I hope will do well here. It’s sitting in the vintage style laundry cart that I’ve used in the past to hold extra pillows from our bed.

This vintage sea shells print is another piece of digital artwork that I purchased from BFF Print Shop. I had it printed at Walgreens as a 24 x 36″ poster and made it into a wall chart.

This woven tray holds more beachy elements: dried sea oats, a jar of shells, a sea shell collector book, faux sea sponge and aqua recycled glass beads.

Sadie and I hope you enjoyed visiting my coastal cottage bedroom for summer! At the end of the post, I’ve linked all sources for the available products from my bedroom.
