Let’s take a walk down memory lane and see all the different porch design styles I’ve used to decorate my screen porch for summer!
It’s finally feeling like spring here in Pennsylvania and that means I need to get my screen porch ready for the spring/summer season! It’s so fun to decorate this space because I can be more eclectic with my choices! I have a design plan in my head and I’ll be sharing it more next week. But, for today, I thought it might be fun to take a look back at my summer screen porch design through the years! It’s really an eclectic mix!
bold pattern porch design
Let’s begin in 2014 when I went DIY crazy! I made bold cross curtains from drop cloths, a striped rug from a drop cloth, and painted furniture too!

cottage style design
Then in 2015 I went with a cottage style with pale shades of aqua and a peachy pink!

Vintage Patriotic Porch
In 2016 I used a lot of fun vintage elements that I found thrifting! And, this red, white and blue design was perfect for the summertime holidays!

boho design
In 2017 I spent a lot of time making macrame curtains that you can barely see in the photos! But, they were so cute. And, I used a lot of black and white with some natural elements that year for a more boho vibe.

vintage red and white
In 2018, I went back to my roots with red and white and some galvanized serving pieces. Plus, I added in some vintage elements including the Summertime sign that I made from an old cabinet door.

SUMMER PASTELS
In 2019 my screen porch was a mix of summery pastels. It was definitely prettier in person.

BLUE AND WHITE SUMMER PORCH
2020 was the year I used shades of blue and white on my summer screen porch. Even though I love blue, I rarely use it in my decor.

COZY SUMMER PORCH
Last year, I kept things simple and cozy with plants, wicker and rattan and vintage inspired accessories.

Now, let’s have some fun! I’d love to hear which is your favorite design! Let me know in the comments below!

Sheila Guinn
Oh my goodness! Love them all! You are so talented and have such an expert eye for detail. If one must choose then for me it would be Vintage Patriotic….I’m a Red, White and Blue girl 🙂

Suzanne
I’ve always loved # 2. Cottage . Sweet and summery. 🙂
kYM
I adore the pops of color in the Vintage Patriotic. That’s my choice!
The long curtains make your porch look so cool and inviting.
Shelly
#3! But, #2 is a close second!😁
Carolyn
Number 2 because those are my porch colors too and I love them but I do wish for a couple of summer patriot holidays I could make it number 3, just for that weekend!!!
renee
# 3 for me! I love vintage and that sweet little scooter is my fave!!
Brings me back to a simpler day! Thanks!
I want a fun porch to decorate, now!! 🙂
Kathy F.
I like all of them but I’m a porch type of girl but the Patriotic is my favorite. I decorate with red white and blue for the summer like I do for Christmas!!
Rhonda
Wow! They are all wonderful. You are gifted with design and detail. I really love #3 and #4 but #3 wins out for me because I love red, white and blue.
julianna
Love #3 for all the vintage treasures and the summer feel! Although, #4 is a close second with it’s laid back comfortable vibe! Can’t wait to see this years.
Cindy Jennings
I’m partial to number 3! The bold pops of color, and knowing that the 4th has special meaning here in Lititz – fun and festive!
Lola Smith
2. Such relaxing colors
Kay Connelly
I too love # 3 The Vintage Patriotic! My friend and I said, we both reach for anything “Red”. But the love I have for America and the Blessed Nation we are, I look for an opportunity to share my anything Americana when I can. You have talent and run with it. I like that. That’s a God given talent. I too, have been given God given talent for Decorating/& Floral Design. I’ve done “Show Houses”, Special Events, Window & Store Displays and have had many clients over the years. But what I love most is your love of the Lord. That’s worth a million bucks to me. I am Saved and I love to Serve………………Oh, and I have done the Alter Floral, Wedding pieces for our church for 18 yrs. I’m not bragging, I’m praising the Lord I have a talent to work with Beautiful Things while serving the Lord!
Christina
I have to say number 4 is my fave! Love the Americana decor also, though. Have a most blessed weekend!
Donna
My choice is Vintage Porch number 3. I always decorate my gazebo for the July 4th holiday with red and white bunting. The kids all come home and we go to a small town parade.
Cheryl
Vintage Patriotic is my vote!
Marlene Stephenson
Love #4 but really like the vintage one too, what a hard decision, guess that’s why you ask for help!
Carol
I vote for #4 Boho…I find that so relaxing. However, I also loved your bold, DIY design too. You are Very talented and I wish I had such a DIY knack !!
Viv
Love, love the cottage look. Those colors…. beautiful and so soothing!
Christine
I always love what you do on your porch, and you have a beautiful view too! Lucky lady!
I love #4, but the patriotic one comes in second.
Sandy
Number 3 is my favorite since I adore RED!
KAREN
All are so pretty, but #3 vintage is my favorite followed by #2 cottage.
Debbie Rhoades
#2 is my favorite, but #4 was nearly beating it. They are all beautiful, Doreen.
Cindy
I love them all!!
susie
I love #4 they are all so pretty
Loryl
Number 3 definately!
Pam Beck
You did an awesome job with all four! Picking a favorite is difficult, but I believe I’ll have to go with #3 Vintage Patriotic! Can’t wait to see this years!
Katie
Love #3 with the patriotic theme and vintage accents- but also #2! It’s always fun to see what you do!
I have enjoyed your posts of your Texas trip! My husband took me a couple years ago, I’d love to go back so we could eat at Magnolia Table! (Jo’s cookbook is on my wishlist!)
Wish we lived closer, I feel like we’re friends!!
Happy Mother’s Day !
Katie
Betty Coleman
I like 2 , peaceful and relaxing , number 4 is my second favorite . Your designs are all wonderful . I hope to get my porch done this weekend .
Julie
I really like 2 and 3. I wasn’t sure i would like #4 but when i saw it, I really liked it. You did a really good job with the boho design. It always looks so inviting. You have just the right amount of accessories- not too much and not too little. I am always amazed at how you can create such different looks with the same foundational pieces.
Heather
#2 is my favorite. I love the softness. It just looks so relaxing!
Bridget
#3 is my favorite. I love the scooter!
Sherry
I like them all but the cottage is my favorite. Look
CONNIE BRADSHAW
#2 is my fave…but I think you could easily blend all your favorite items for a final statement.
Darlene
Hi. Number 2 is my favouite, Cottaage style, soft and relaxing and those are my colours, vintage is right behind it.
Bev
I love the cottage number 2. It is light and airy feeling. It feels like a summer room.
Patty
It was tough to choose just one! I would love to have a porch like this! Maybe someday!
My favorite would be #3 because my favorite color is red and I also love the buffalo check, plaids, and quilt!!!
Alice Binford
I love the colors of vintage but I also loved cottage. Vintage is my favorite.
Erika
I like them all but #2 best.
jo-ann
My favorite is number 3.
joann
I like number 3.
Marty Oravetz
Boho is so fun, but I love them all. Dont forget I need your promo pic now.
Lee Durden
Loved them all, but the “Vintage Patriot “ is still me favorite!
Arlene
The designs are all great. Boho is my favorite! Chic and cozy.
Doreen Cagno
Thanks for chiming in, Arlene!
Sharon Brosey
Love Cottage and Boho best but none that I don’t like. I do decorate my patio under the second story deck but it’s open to blowing rain, insects and even birds, so it limits what I can leave outside. Fun that you can change it up every year.
Sharon
Doreen Cagno
Thanks so much! I do get some rain, so I try to keep an eye to the sky! And, I try to treat my pillows, if they aren’t for outdoor use!
Lori
How do you choose? They all are gorgeous!!
Doreen Cagno
Ahh – thank you sweet friend!!!
Jo-Ann
Hello! I like the Vintage Patriotic Porch.
Michelle
I agree that they are all amazing and I would love to sit out there enjoying some sweet tea and a good book! My favorite is the vintage patriotic porch theme, but I am looking forward to seeing this year’s theme too!
Marilyn Holeman
I thought it would be easy to choose, because I love Cottage–but when I went back and looked at each original post, I really liked each one! If I had to choose only one, I’d choose the Cottage, but the Vintage Patriotic is a close second. I don’t have a lovely screened porch, but just changed out the shelves in my living room for Memorial Day and will leave it Red, White and Blue through the 4th of July; then just switch over to summertime.
Loryl Fisher
My fav has always been the patriot red, white and blue vintage room.
Shelly
I love all of them! I look forward to seeing your porch every year. I do something different every year on my front wrap around porch, but my screened in porch in the back stays the same for the most part. Can’t wait to see what you do this year!
Carla
The Vintage Red and White is my favorite look for your screened porch. I can’t wait to see what you do this year!
Gwen
I always love your porch designs. I loved the red one with the red cooler. It was so nostalgia. That Boho one looks like it could be for 2020!,, and the bright colored one is my color scheme right now. What will you choose to do I wonder?!! I’m looking forward to seeing it.
