Best of 2020 at Hymns and Verses

Let’s face it, 2020 was a challenging year for all of us!   The last two months have been particularly challenging for me and my family, but we got through it!  And, before I begin sharing things for the new year, I thought it would be fun to look through my posts from 2020.  And, here is The Best of 2020 at Hymns and Verses!

Hymns and Verses Best of 2020

Hymns & Verses Best of 2020

To see the details for each post below, just click on the title and you’ll be taken to the full blog post!

Modern Farmhouse Kitchen RemodeL

In January, we did a kitchen remodel.  We got a new range, installed a range hood and took the brick wall to the ceiling.  We also installed new quartz countertops and a farmhouse sink with a new faucet.  For the cabinets, we just updated the hardware with hidden hinges and gold pulls.  Then, we brought in a small kitchen island and stools.  And, built a peg rail shelf.

Paper Bird tutorial

These paper birds are so easy to make and you can use any kind of paper that you want.   I used brown kraft paper and attached them to some spring branches!

His Eye is on the Sparrow Free Printable

I created this printable when the country was first shut down for the virus.  I’ve created a lot of printables for the blog, but this one is so special!

Vintage Style Nursery

This is the first post that I shared about the little nursery that we created for our new granddaughter, that was born on Christmas day of 2019!  I shared the vintage treasures that I used to transform this small space.

Cottage Coastal Bedroom

I stepped outside of the box and created a coastal look in our bedroom for the summer months.  I really loved the beachy vibe and may just repeat this look in the new year!

Closet Reading Nook

Back in the nursery for another DIY project!  We turned the closet in this room into a cozy reading nook.  I will be sharing the tutorial for this soon!

Dollhouse Bookcase

And, here’s one more project in the nursery.  Mark built the cutest dollhouse bookcase for the space.  For now, it’s mainly for toy storage.  But, when Daphne gets older, I hope to make some doll furniture for it!

Fall Dining Room

I picked up a “new to me” dining room table that I refinished and some new chairs and showcased them and a new light fixture for the fall season!

Baked Cheese & Pepper Jelly Appetiser

This appetiser is perfect for both the fall and winter months!  It also is great on a charceuterie board!

September Wedding Florals

In September, I had the honor of creating the florals for a friend’s wedding.  This isn’t something that I normally share here on the blog, but everyone seemed to like seeing all the details!

Homemade Hot Chocolate and White Chocolate Candy Cane Spoons

What’s better at Christmas and the winter months than a cup of hot chocolate!  In this post, I shared my recipe and how to make white chocolate candy cane spoons!

Christmas Home Tour

And, each year the finale is my Christmas Home Tour.  Each year I try to do something completely different and this year’s traditional tour featured a lot of vintage inspiration!  If you missed it, I hope you’ll check it out!

So, that’s my list of the Best of 2020 at Hymns and Verses!  I hope you enjoyed this look back over the year!  And, I’ll be back later this week with a new printable calendar for 2021!   I’m really looking forward to the New Year and all that it will bring!

I had forgotten the portrait painting in your kitchen eating area that looks so good above the buffet piece I don’t remember what is there for your Christmas tour! You have a won Eye for decor!

I'd forgotten about your "His Eye is on the Sparrow" printable. I love that one. I don't have a color printer, but just realized that maybe I could add some water color to it. I think I'll give it a try.

I sent you an email, but thought I'd share this idea here for anyone else: Since your granddaughter's birthday is on Christmas Day, you might want to celebrate her "half-birthdays" when she gets a bit older. Although it's a privilege to share Jesus' birthday, if you celebrate it on June 25, she will have a day that's all her own. Just a thought.

Looking forward to more Hymns and Verses in 2021. Happy New Year!

It's so much fun this time of year to visit friends and see what their most popular posts of the year were. I also missed the birds and am off to see how you made them.
